Raduga is a very different expression of rose from the brighter character of Damascena or the rounded softness of Centifolia.

The aroma

Raduga opens with a strong, concentrated rose.

It is immediately floral, but there is less of the airy freshness associated with some rose oils. Instead, the aroma moves quickly into something deeper — rich petals, warm spice and a darker fruity quality underneath.

The spice is one of its defining features.

It gives the rose more tension and stops the floral character from becoming overly sweet or delicate.

As the oil settles, the fruitiness becomes easier to pick out. It is not juicy or sugary. It sits inside the rose and adds weight to the floral body.

The overall impression is bold, deep and slightly unconventional for a rose oil.

This material is grown on the producer’s certified organic plantation near Tazha in Bulgaria’s Rose Valley. Freshly harvested flowers are steam distilled on site using traditional copper stills.

Raduga was selected as an oil-bearing rose for both its productivity and its distinct aromatic character. Compared with standard Damascena, its essential oil has a noticeably different profile.

Wearing the material

A small amount gives a full rose presence almost immediately, followed by spice and a slightly darker fruity character as it develops.

If you usually find natural rose too delicate or too polished, Raduga is worth experiencing. There is considerably more weight and character here.

In perfumery

Raduga gives a perfumer something different from a classical clean rose note.

It can bring depth, spice and floral intensity to a composition and works particularly well where the rose needs to hold its ground against stronger materials.

Additional notes

This rose otto may crystallize at temperatures below 20°C. This is a natural characteristic of high-quality rose otto and a sign of purity. Gently warm the bottle in your hands and shake lightly (with the cap secured) to restore it to liquid form.

What is rose otto?

In natural perfumery, otto refers to pure essential oil obtained through steam distillation. The term originates from the Arabic word itr, meaning essence or perfume.

Rose otto is especially valued when taken from early distillation fractions, where freshness, clarity, and structural integrity are preserved.

Raduga is a cultivated oil-bearing rose with Damascena and Gallica heritage.

It was developed for good flower and essential-oil productivity, but for the perfumer the more interesting part is what happened aromatically.
